Andy and I feel so lucky to have found Clemencia, she and her dogs are pure class. From our initial phone call, you could tell she knew exactly what she was doing with the ESS breed, and took pride in it. We appreciated how thorough she was with the care of her pups. Frannie (Wallylama’s Impressive Design, CGC, CGCU, TKN) is a complete joy. Over the past couple years, we’ve gotten our Canine Good Citizen, Urban Canine Good Citizen, and Trick Dog Novice titles. We’re working on legs of AKC Rally and Obedience titles, as well as WCFO Musical Freestyle titles. Frannie excels at everything she does. She’s a loving, kind, healthy, well-adjusted dog that brings a smile to everyone she meets—and it all started with Wallylama. We love her so, so much!- Katie Burk & Andy Sayer
We met the Wallylama Springer breeder, Clemencia, and fell in love with her philosophy. The kennel is the perfect blend of love for the breed and a celebration of each dog, with meticulous attention paid to the genetic qualities that will give them the best chance at a long, happy life with their families.
By the time we brought our dog Landon home, we had been in touch with Clemencia for 2 years. We were willing to be patient so that we would have the best dog for our family. We knew not to rush it.
Landon has been an exceptional addition to our family, and Clemencia's support of our family as we learn how to care for him and celebrate him has been ongoing.
Clemencia is such an intuitive teacher. I was confident in how to feed, exercise, and groom Landon by the time we took him home. Whenever we have a doubt, Clemencia answers our questions. This is a relationship that will surely last a lifetime.
ESS want to be with their people, and unless they are chasing a tennis ball or sniffing out something really tasty, they prefer to be no further than zero and 6 inches away. It took us a long time to finally commit to an ESS, knowing that it's best to have someone home with them, rather than leave them for long stretches of time if the family primarily works outside the home. We also practiced leaving Landon alone for brief periods, slowly giving him more confidence to be on his own if we leave for a soccer game, a concert, or a meal out, and he has done great now that we know what we should keep out of reach!
ESS are smart and charismatic, so training is rewarding but also pretty hilarious. If they have a different idea from yours, they're likely to try it out on you and see how far they get. There is always laughter when an ESS is nearby!
ESS need grooming, and if you learn how to do it at home, you'll find it's a great bonding experience for you and the dog. Don't shy away from it if you are physically able to give it a try. The better you know your dog's body, the more likely you are to catch any abnormalities, like knowing the difference between a deer tick and a skin tag, catching an ear infection, or attending to a matted patch of hair before it becomes painful for the dog.
ESS are incredibly athletic, energetic dogs, and the perfect size. They are big enough to leap atop a basement freezer chest while your back is turned, and small enough to run beneath the legs of a Bernese Mountain Dog at full tilt. They also love the snow, swimming, and parades!
ESS make fast friends and have a keen sense for who loves them, faithfully greeting people and dogs alike with each new visit. Landon is great with small children: we once noticed how he repeatedly returned his tennis ball to his 4 year old neighbor for another toss, ignoring the neighbor's uncle, who was also eager for a turn.
ESS are great company for anything you want to do with them. They'll hang out in the garden, swim and chase a tennis ball endlessly, go on a drive to a favorite trail, or nap cozily by your side. We are so lucky to have Landon in our lives!
Love Wallylama Springer Spaniels. Our dog is the sweetest. Never leaves our side, so loyal. Whether you want a dog for hiking, hunting, or companionship. Wallylama is the best. The kennel is impeccable. You could eat off the floors, not even a dog hair in sight!
I’ve had an ESS in my house, and sometimes several more than one, since the month after I graduated from college in 1971. Dolly, Wallylama’s Key to My Heart, is my hands-down favorite. She is playful, affectionate, athletic, self-confident and highly trainable. She’s great at home, at the ranch and out hunting with my English Setters. I followed Wallylama’s Instagram for several years before getting on Clemencia’s puppy list. I suggest you spend time on her Instagram page. The pictures are true to the dogs she raises. - Ross
